Under the new taxation policy of the Goods and Services Tax, all people and businesses involved in the supply of goods or services are required to obtain a registration of GST to conduct business. Those who are not registered under the GST Act shall not be allowed to receive the benefit of collecting GST from end customers or claim an input tax credit (ITC) on their inward supply. The GST Council has prescribed Rupees 20 Lakhs of the business’ turnover to be the limit for registration under GST, which means, you are to register yourself as soon as you reach this level of earnings. On the other hand, for northeastern states, this limit has been set to Rupees 10 Lakhs.

The registration has to be applied for within 30 days of reaching this threshold limit. When it comes to GST, the term Aggregate Turnover refers to all of the supplies made by the taxable entity, whether on their own accord or on behalf of a principal. However, in the case of a registered job worker, the earnings of supplies under the same job work won’t be included in their turnover.
